BTS are used to breaking records by now, with the South Korean septet seemingly reaching new heights on platforms like YouTube with every new track they release.
Earlier this week, all seven members of the Boy with Luv singers launched personal Instagram accounts for the first time – and less than 72 hours later, they’ve already been named among the most followed people in the world.
A new report compiled by Affise looked into the most prolific content creators who have the biggest social fans in countries around the world, by tallying their followings on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
And not only are BTS – made up of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – the top social influencers in South Korea with a combined total of 154,100,000 followers, they also managed to finish in fifth place in the world rankings.

Affise’s ‘Influencers: Mapped’ report placed football legend Cristiano Ronaldo in first place in the global rankings, with popstar Selena Gomez in second, fellow singer Justin Bieber in third, and footie star Lionel Messi in fourth.
Becoming one of the top five most-followed stars in the world within 72 hours isn’t the only impressive feat achieved by BTS since they launched their Instagram accounts either.
V – real name Kim Taehyung – also broke the record for the most followers attained in 24 hours when his account first went live, as he managed to hit 15.6 million followers in just 19 hours.
As of the time of writing, the 25-year-old singer is sitting at 22.3 million followers.

His feat was shortly followed by youngest member Jeon Jungkook, who had 15 million followers in his first 24 hours, and currently has over 21 million.
Park Jimin currently has 20.5 million followers, Jin (Kim Seokjin) has almost 20 million, J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) has 19.7 million, and RM (Kim Namjoon) and Suga (Min Yoongi) both have 19.6 million.
And although V has broken the record for the most followers attained in 24 hours, it’s currently unclear whether he was able to de-throne fellow K-Pop star Moon Taeil, who broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest user to reach one million followers on July 6, with a time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
But one more Guinness World Record is doubtful to matter to the Butter hitmakers, who were inducted into the Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame in September this year for amassing an impressive 23 world records.
Their accolades include the most streamed group on Spotify, the most Twitter engagements for a music group, and the most followed music group on Instagram for their collective band account – which has 56.1 million followers.
Truly, these boys are a force to be reckoned with.
